Hi, I'm Ben Thornley, Sports Editor of the North Wales Daily Post, and welcome to the first of our sportsdesk blogs.

We'll be updating the blog as often as possible to provide you with a taster of the next day's Daily Post Sport section and also to give our verdict on the burning sports issues of the day.

In tomorrow's paper we'll have all the reaction to tonight's Carling Cup games and Wrexham's clash with Rushden & Diamonds, plus all the build-up to Everton's third-round game against Blackburn Rovers.

Everton assistant boss Steve Round insists the Blues are again taking the Carling Cup seriously this year, although not seriously enough for David Moyes to give a Press conference ahead of the tie, it appears.

But the big news from Goodison is that Alan Stubbs is back at the club as a coach, although such is the form (or lack of) of David Moyes' back four he must be tempted to throw the retired centre-back in against Paul Ince's men. A lame Stubbs would still be a better bet than Joleon Lescott at the moment.
Why is it Stubbs always tends to show up at Everton in the most desperate of situations?

With the Premier League's 'Respect' campaign in full swing, Gareth Bicknell takes a look at what the Welsh Premier are trying to do to crack down on ill-discipline in the Welsh leagues in the first of a series of features on officials in North Wales sport.

Plus, you can expect all the usual general sport, including Lewis Hamilton's failed appeal - an appalling decision.

Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions.
